While in my second grade classroom this past week, I noticed a few things. The first thing was that every student had a device. The second thing was that they were only using their devices to access books and play learning games in their free time. After talking to the teacher, I realized that the students do not have many options for completing assignments in this class. The work they were completing that day was a compare and contrast worksheet. This got me thinking about ReadWriteThink and how we were able to create an online Venn Diagram so that students could fill it out online. I created a Venn Diagram for my mentor teacher to use as a print off or I explained hoe ReadWriteThink could be used so that her students could do assignments on it. Thinking about learner variability, this provides at least 2 options for students to complete their assignments. For students who love using technology, they could complete worksheets online. For students who prefer low tech options, they can print out the worksheet and complete it that way. This is a website that the teacher could also use to design many things and assignments for the students.
