In the second grade classroom at Milbrook, I asked my teacher what application assignment she would like. She said that a lot of her students are English Language Learners (ELL) so any type of visuals are wonderful. I got the idea to create a Sound-O-Meter so the teacher can remind students both visually and verbally how loud they should be. This allows the teacher to provide multiple means of representation for information. Some students do better with visual learning and this allows them to visually look and know what noise level to follow. This also serves as a reminder so if students forget or didn't listen to what the teacher said. they can look at the meter to see. Lastly, the Sound-O-Meter allows the teacher to provide more nonverbal communication. Instead of having to stop a lesson to tell students to be quiet, she could point to the meter so nobody is disrupted.
